Ironically for Berserk the older animation remains the one with superior quality. It was one of the best anime of its time and is still loved as a classic. The premise is primarily a romance with supernatural beings and bloodshed but its story is deep and brooding like that of Berserk. Berserk deserves top tier treatment at least in my estimation.
